2014 NBA Championship odds favor heat, pacers

The 2013-14 NBA season has been in action for two months now, and the top two favorites to win this year’s NBA crown have been as good as advertised.

The Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers are the top two favorites to win the NBA title this year, and ironically they are the only two good teams in the entire Eastern Conference.

How bad is the East?

As of Jan. 12, the No. 4 through No. 8 seeds in the current NBA overall standings are all under.500. That’s bad!  The No. 8 seed in the West is the Dallas Mavericks. If the Mavs were in the East, they would be the No. 3 seed. If the Heat and Pacers do not meet up in the Eastern Conference Finals in May, you can bet something very strange must have happened.

The current NBA title odds look this way:

Miami Heat   9/5
Indiana Pacers    3/1
Oklahoma City Thunder 7/1
San Antonio Spurs  8/1
Golden State Warriors  10/1
